Hon. R. Darryl Mazur
12th District Court Judge
R. Darryl Mazur, a
long-time Jackson attorney, was elected District Court judge
in 2002 to serve a six-year term, that ends Jan. 1, 2009. He is the Chief Judge for District Court.
Prior to his election
Judge Mazur was engaged in law practice following a three-year
stint as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Jackson County.
Upon graduation from Michigan State University in 1970 and
Detroit College of Law in 1973, he accepted the position in
the prosecuting attorney's office. In 1976, he left to become
a partner in the law firm of Parker, Adams & Mazur, PC,
which evolved to Parker, Adams, Mazur & Matyjaszek, PC;
Mazur, Matyjaszek & Brandt, PC, and in 2002, to Law Offices
of Mazur & Brandt, PLLC.
Judge Mazur's professional
affiliations include the Jackson County Bar Assn., for which
he served as treasurer from 1980 to 1982 and as president
in 1992-93; the Michigan Bar Assn. and the American Bar Assn.
In addition, he was an adjunct professor at Jackson Community
College from 1983 to 1986.
He has held memberships
in several community groups, including Big Brothers, Big Sisters,
for which he served as a board member. He is currently a member
of the Fraternal Order of Police, Kiwanis Club of Jackson
Northwest, serving as president from 1992-1993; First Church
of the Nazarene, NAACP Jackson branch, and Fraternal Order
of Eagles. Past memberships include Jackson City Human Relations
Committee and Jackson County Community Corrections Council.
